Andhra Pradesh Government Whip and Nandigama TDP MLA Tangirala Soumya has secured the 739th rank in the recently released AP LAWCET-2024 results, scoring 95 marks. Her achievement has drawn praise from several quarters, with many commending her for balancing public service and academic pursuits. Soumya, who holds a B.Tech degree and previously worked in the software industry, said she was inspired by her late father Tangirala Prabhakara Rao, a practicing lawyer, to pursue legal studies.

Soumya entered politics after her father’s sudden demise and made history by becoming the first woman legislator from the Nandigama constituency in a 2014 by-election. Though she lost in 2019, she regained the seat in the 2024 elections. Her success in LAWCET is being seen as a reflection of her continued commitment to self-improvement and public service.
Releasing the LAWCET results on Thursday, Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh announced that the exam recorded a 95% pass rate. He noted that girl candidates once again dominated the top ranks. A total of 27,253 candidates applied for the entrance exam, of whom 20,826 qualified. The online exam was conducted on June 5. Minister Lokesh congratulated all the successful candidates and acknowledged their hard work and dedication.
