Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government on Monday issued major transfers of IAS officers, including a change in the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu appointed senior officer Anil Kumar Singhal as the new Executive Officer (EO) of TTD, replacing Shyamala Rao. Singhal had previously held the post, while Rao has been moved to the General Administration Department (GAD) as Principal Secretary.
The decision comes in the wake of the Vaikuntha Ekadashi stampede-like incident in Tirupati, where six devotees lost their lives and several others were injured during token distribution. The episode triggered widespread criticism of TTD’s administration, with sources indicating that the Chief Minister had expressed strong displeasure during a review meeting before ordering the transfer.
