Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh coalition government has announced the launch of the Sanjeevani scheme, designed to provide doorstep medical services and immediate treatment to patients. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said global philanthropist Bill Gates is offering full support and technical assistance for the initiative. The announcement came during the Swarna Andhra volunteer program held in Macharla, Palnadu district.

The pilot project, initially implemented in Kuppam constituency, proved successful and will now be expanded to Chittoor district. Drawing inspiration from the Ramayana, where Hanuman brought the life-saving Sanjivani herb to save Lakshmana, CM Naidu said the scheme will deliver advanced medical care directly to citizens’ homes. The program will provide cashless treatment up to Rs ₹2.5 lakh under a universal health policy, with NTR Health Services offering up to ₹2.5 lakh in free medical care for economically weaker sections.

In addition to the health initiative, CM Naidu highlighted infrastructure projects in Palnadu district, including the completion of the Varikapudisel lift irrigation project, which will provide irrigation to 1.25 lakh acres. He also confirmed plans to divert Godavari water to the Sagar Right Canal and ongoing talks with the central government to establish a chili board, aimed at boosting agriculture and supporting local livelihoods.
