The Andhra Pradesh coalition government has taken a crucial step by issuing orders for the distribution of house sites under the “For All, Housing Scheme.” According to the new guidelines, 3 cents of land will be allocated in rural areas and 2 cents in urban areas for eligible beneficiaries.
The government has outlined specific eligibility criteria in the order, which includes only families living below the poverty line (BPL) being eligible for the scheme. The distribution will be carried out in the name of women, and the construction of houses must be completed within two years from the issuance of the house site patta (title deed).
The scheme, which aligns with promises made by the TDP-led coalition during the 2024 elections, aims to provide house sites to the underprivileged. The coalition had pledged to allocate 3 cents of land in villages and 2 cents in towns upon assuming power.

In a Cabinet meeting, the government approved the distribution of house sites, with the Revenue Department issuing a Government Order (GO) to formalize the decision. As per the GO, the government will issue a conveyance deed to beneficiaries, granting them full ownership rights to the land after a 10-year period.
The eligibility for house site allocation stipulates that the beneficiaries must not own any land or house elsewhere in the state. The government has also clarified that individuals who have benefited from central or state housing schemes in the past are ineligible. Furthermore, applicants must possess a ration card, and the land they hold must be within specified limits—5 acres of dry land and 2.5 acres of wetland.

Applications for house sites will soon be accepted, with village and ward assemblies set to review objections and finalize the list of eligible beneficiaries. The government is also considering utilizing existing government land for the distribution of house sites, instead of acquiring new plots for the scheme.
