On November 1, Andhra Pradesh marks its State Formation Day, honoring the establishment of Andhra State in memory of Potti Sriramulu, whose sacrifice led to its creation. Recently, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu faced criticism for allegedly neglecting the occasion. In response, Naidu addressed the concerns, asserting that November 1 remains a day to remember the formation of Andhra Pradesh and the contributions of Amarajeevi Potti Sriramulu.
Naidu recounted a cabinet discussion on commemorating Sriramulu’s sacrifice, recalling how Sriramulu’s 58-day hunger strike led to his death in December 1952, catalyzing the formation of Andhra State on October 1 the following year. This ultimately led to the formation of Andhra Pradesh in 1956. Naidu noted that he had dedicated a district in Sriramulu’s name, emphasizing the significance of December 15, the day of his sacrifice. “We must honor those who sacrificed for our history,” Naidu stated, pledging continued recognition of Sriramulu’s legacy.

YSRCP Leader Roja Criticizes CM Naidu’s Stance
YSRCP leader Roja sharply criticized Naidu, accusing him of neglecting the state and its people. She contrasted Andhra Pradesh’s lack of a celebrated State Formation Day with other states like Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha, claiming it was due to Naidu’s leadership. She condemned the government’s decision to cancel celebrations at both state and district levels, asserting that under Jagan Mohan Reddy’s administration, the state had celebrated November 1 as State Formation Day for five consecutive years. Roja accused Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan of disrespecting Sriramulu’s sacrifice with their approach.
