Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s office received a death threat on Monday from an unidentified caller who also sent abusive messages. Following the complaint, police launched a thorough investigation, leading to the arrest of the accused, identified as Nooka Mallikarjuna Rao.
Threat Call Details
The threatening call was traced to the number 95055 05556, registered to Mallikarjuna Rao from Thiruvuru in the NTR district. The call originated from a mobile tower near Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada. Authorities revealed that the accused, under the influence of alcohol, made the calls and sent offensive messages to Pawan Kalyan’s office.

Swift Police Action
Responding to the complaint, Vijayawada City Police Commissioner Rajasekhar Babu directed Task Force, Special Branch, and Law and Order units to investigate. While the accused initially switched off his phone to avoid detection, he was eventually apprehended. Police are currently interrogating him at a secure location.
Home Minister Reacts
State Home Minister Vangalapudi Anita condemned the incident and took immediate action. After being briefed by Director General of Police (DGP) Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, the minister directed authorities to expedite the investigation.
“The state will not tolerate threats against public representatives. Those responsible will face strict legal consequences,” said Anita.
