Dhaka: Bangladesh has witnessed another disturbing incident involving the death of a Hindu youth, even as public outrage over the killing of Deepu Chandra Das remains fresh. Local media reported that a 29-year-old man was beaten to death by villagers in Rajbari district on Wednesday night, raising renewed concerns over law and order and communal safety.
The incident occurred in the Pangsha Circle area of Rajbari, where the victim, identified as Amrit Mondal, was allegedly attacked following accusations of extortion. Police said they rushed to the scene after receiving information and shifted Mondal to a nearby hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Thursday.
According to investigators, Mondal was allegedly operating a criminal gang named “Samrat Bahini” and was involved in extortion and other anti-social activities. Police said he was also named in a murder case and had another criminal case registered against him.
One of Mondal’s associates, Mohammad Selim, was arrested in connection with the incident. Police recovered a pistol and a shooter gun from his possession. Officials stated that several of Mondal’s accomplices managed to flee, and efforts are underway to trace them.
After how many Hindu lives are lost will this atrocity become "acceptable"?

Police further revealed that after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the country, Mondal had remained underground for several days before recently returning to his village. On Wednesday night, he allegedly went to the residence of a local man, Shahidul Islam, and demanded money. When Islam’s family raised an alarm, villagers gathered and allegedly assaulted Mondal.
The killing has triggered widespread discussion, particularly as it follows closely on the Deepu Chandra Das murder, intensifying concerns over violence and security for minority communities in Bangladesh. Authorities said investigations are ongoing and assured strict action against those responsible.
