Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Vijayanand on Saturday announced that the state government is taking comprehensive measures to stabilize vegetable prices and prevent undue burden on consumers. He emphasized that fluctuations in vegetable prices, both sharp increases and declines, are being closely monitored to ensure market stability.
Addressing a video conference from the camp office in Vijayawada, Vijayanand stated that steps have been initiated to maintain stable prices for vegetables, including brinjal, tomato, green chili, and dried chili. At the same time, he assured that farmers would receive adequate support through a minimum support price (MSP). Officials from the agriculture, marketing, civil supplies, and MARKFED departments participated in the review meeting.
The Chief Secretary directed officials to ensure a balanced approach where both farmers and consumers benefit. He instructed continuous monitoring of price fluctuations and emphasized integrating real-time governance with AgriWatch for better oversight.

Minimum Support Price for Farmers
Vijayanand reiterated the government’s commitment to safeguarding farmers’ interests and instructed officials to instill confidence among them. He directed Industries Secretary Yuvaraj to engage with ITC and other companies to secure an MSP for eucalyptus and subabul crops. Officials informed that the current MSP stands at ₹5,400 per ton for subabul and Rs 4,400 per ton for eucalyptus.
Infrastructure Improvements at Rythu Bazaars
Reviewing arrangements at Rythu Bazaars, Vijayanand sought updates on infrastructure improvements. He was briefed on the installation of modern vegetable coolers that function without electricity, using water-based technology. The marketing department has already placed an order for 59 vegetable coolers, with an additional 112 units planned for installation across all Rythu Bazaars, according to Special Chief Secretary for Agriculture Rajasekhar.
