Amit Shah’s scathing remarks on Congress’s emergency atrocities, power politics

Senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on the Congress and Rahul Gandhi. “It has been five decades since the Emergency was imposed in the country, and the opposition party has repeatedly suppressed the spirit of the Constitution to keep a family in power.

Rahul Gandhi is the prince of the party, and his grandmother, Indira Gandhi, imposed the Emergency. Rahul Gandhi has forgotten that his father, Rajiv Gandhi, stated in Parliament on July 23, 1985, that ‘there is nothing wrong in imposing Emergency.’

The Congress has consistently undermined the spirit of our Constitution to maintain a family’s hold on power. During the Emergency, Indira Gandhi committed brutal atrocities against the people of India. If Rajiv Gandhi did not feel the need for the Emergency and did not implement it, he would not have been fit to hold the post of Prime Minister.

This clearly shows that the Congress party values nothing other than family and power.”

He shared a post on his X account: “The Congress crushed the spirit of our Constitution several times for the sake of maintaining a certain family in power. Indira Gandhi unleashed ruthless atrocities on the people of India during Emergency. The yuvraj of the Congress party has forgotten that his grandmother imposed the Emergency and his father, Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, on July 23, 1985, said in the Lok Sabha, taking much pride in this horrific episode, ‘There is nothing wrong with an Emergency.’

Mr. Rajiv Gandhi even said, ‘If any Prime Minister of this country who feels that an Emergency is necessary, under these circumstances and does not apply the Emergency, he is not fit to be the Prime Minister of this country.’ This very act of taking pride in a dictatorial act shows that nothing else is dear to the Congress other than the family and power.”
