Chhattisgarh: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has reiterated that the government will not hold negotiations with Maoist insurgents, emphasizing that they must lay down arms and surrender to law enforcement. Speaking at an event in Bastar district, Chhattisgarh, Shah stated that those willing to surrender would be welcomed and provided with rehabilitation support, but there would be no dialogue with armed groups disrupting peace in the region.

Shah highlighted the government’s commitment to the development of Maoist-affected areas in Bastar, asserting that security forces will respond firmly to any acts of violence. “Maoists are requesting talks, but what is there to discuss? The central and state governments are fully focused on developing these regions. By March 31, 2026, India aims to be free of Maoist influence, and they will no longer be able to obstruct village development,” he said.

The Home Minister also emphasized the financial backing for regional development, noting that over ₹4 lakh crore has been allocated by the Modi government over the past decade for Chhattisgarh’s growth. He assured that additional funds will be directed in the coming days to accelerate infrastructure and social development projects in areas previously affected by insurgency.
