Ahmedabad: A major aviation accident was reported near Ahmedabad on Thursday afternoon, as an Air India flight en route to London crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
According to preliminary reports, the aircraft went down in the Meghani area, approximately 15 kilometers from the airport. Officials confirmed that over 242 people, including passengers and crew, were onboard at the time of the crash. The incident is suspected to have been caused by a technical malfunction.

Eyewitnesses reported heavy smoke billowing from the crash site, while videos of the wreckage quickly went viral on social media. Emergency services responded promptly, with 12 fire engines deployed for rescue and relief operations.
Authorities have yet to release official details regarding casualties. Further information is awaited as rescue efforts continue and an investigation is expected to be launched to determine the exact cause of the crash.
