Popular actress Kasturi recently sparked a major controversy after making derogatory comments about Telugu women during a speech, which quickly went viral. In response, leaders of several Telugu associations in Tamil Nadu have demanded action against her, filing complaints with the police. As a result, a case has been registered against her at the Egmore police station in Chennai under four sections of the law.
Actress Kasturi Goes into Hiding
Amidst the uproar, the police attempted to serve Kasturi with notices, but her house was found locked, and her phone appeared to be switched off, leading to speculation that she is now in hiding. In her speech, Kasturi had remarked, “Telugu people came to Tamil Nadu to serve the women of the household, and now those who arrived are behaving as if they are Tamils, making big statements.”Kasturi Apologizes for Her Remarks
Following the backlash, Kasturi issued an apology, clarifying that her comments were directed at a few individuals and not the entire Telugu community. “I was only referring to certain individuals, and I did not mean to insult the entire Telugu society. I have always lived beyond caste and regional boundaries. I am a true nationalist. The Telugu people have given me love and fame, and I never intended to disrespect my Telugu family. I apologize for the unintended incident,” she said.
Kasturi is well known to Telugu audiences for her role in the TV serial Grihalakshmi.
