Vijayawada: The ACB Court in Vijayawada has issued a key order granting special jail privileges to YSRCP MP Mithun Reddy, who is currently in judicial custody at the Rajahmundry Central Jail in connection with the Andhra Pradesh liquor scam case.
Citing health concerns and the MP’s medical requirements, the court directed jail authorities to provide a range of facilities during his remand period. These include an iron cot, mattress, chair, table, pen, paper, mosquito net, yoga mat, walking shoes, and mineral water bottles.
The court also permitted Mithun Reddy to stay in a private room equipped with a western-style commode. He has been allowed to receive home-cooked food three times a day and to use five types of prescribed medication. Due to cervical issues, special pillows have also been authorised.
In addition, the court instructed jail officials to arrange access to daily newspapers, magazines, and a television. A personal attendant has also been sanctioned to assist him.
If food is brought from outside, an undertaking letter must be submitted, the court clarified. It further ordered that appropriate medical care be made available within the jail premises, and external medical services may be arranged if necessary.
The court also granted permission for Mithun Reddy to meet his legal counsel three times a week and family members twice a week. These directives come as part of the MP’s ongoing remand period following his arrest in the high-profile liquor scam case.
