Amaravati: Speculation is rife over who will take charge as the new BJP chief for Andhra Pradesh, as reports indicate that the current president, Daggubati Purandeswari, is likely to be replaced. This has triggered intense debate about the next leader, with strong indications that the position may be given to someone from the Rayalaseema region.
Prominent names under consideration include former Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, Ramachandra Reddy, and Esuka Sunil. Meanwhile, MLA Adinarayana Reddy has publicly stated that if the position is allocated to the Reddy community, he is a contender for the role.

OC for AP, BC for Telangana?
Reports suggest that if the BJP leadership appoints a member of the Reddy community as president in Andhra Pradesh, the party may consider a BC leader for the Telangana BJP unit. Names such as Malkajgiri MP Etela Rajender, Medak MP Raghunandan Rao, and Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind are reportedly in contention for the Telangana BJP presidency. A decision on the Telangana unit is expected by the end of this month.
In Andhra Pradesh, other names under consideration include Rajya Sabha MP Sujana Chowdary and former MLC Madhav. Party insiders suggest that the BJP’s central leadership is keen to appoint a Reddy community leader to counter Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s influence in the state. However, Purandeswari’s supporters believe there is still a chance she may continue in the role. A final decision on the new BJP president for Andhra Pradesh is likely to be announced by the end of next month.
