Prominent tabla artist Zakir Hussain (73) has passed away. He died while receiving treatment in the ICU at a hospital in San Francisco, USA, on Sunday. Zakir Hussain had been suffering from heart-related issues over the past few days. He was admitted to the hospital after experiencing severe discomfort but ultimately succumbed to his condition despite medical intervention.
Zakir Hussain, a highly respected figure in the global music scene, earned widespread recognition and a massive fan following over the course of his career. Born on March 9, 1951, in Mumbai, he gave his first concert in the United States at the age of 11. His debut album was released in 1973, and he became a highly influential figure in tabla playing, earning numerous awards and accolades.
