The tragic death of Atul Subhash, a Bengaluru-based software engineer, has sent shockwaves across the nation. Unable to endure harassment from his wife, Nikhita Singhania, Atul took his own life. In a significant development, the police have also arrested Nikhita along with her mother and brother. They were detained in Prayagraj and will be presented in court, where they will be sent to judicial custody.
A Heart-Wrenching Letter Reveals the Struggles
Atul Subhash’s suicide highlighted the grim reality of marital harassment. In a 24-page letter, he described his struggles and frustration, stating that false cases filed by wives to harass husbands leave men with no option but to end their lives. He lamented having to pay alimony despite his wife having a job while he remained unemployed.

Financial Demands Exposed
The letter disclosed multiple financial demands made by Nikhita. Initially, she demanded Rs. 1 crore, later escalating the demand to Rs. 3 crore. Additionally, Atul revealed that she ultimately demanded Rs. 30 lakh to allow him a chance to see his son. He expressed his distress, stating that some women exploit men, accumulating wealth through their tears and suffering.
Months of Planning and Police Investigation
Atul reportedly began planning his suicide a month in advance, meticulously settling his credit card bills and completing office work as part of his plan. In light of the incident, the police registered a case against Nikhita and began a thorough investigation. Although she initially managed to evade arrest, she was eventually apprehended by the authorities.
