Hyderabad: Ramamurthy Naidu, the brother of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, has passed away due to health complications. He was receiving treatment at AIG Hospital in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, when his death was confirmed.
Ramamurthi Naidu served as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Chandragiri constituency from 1994 to 1999, representing the Telugu Desam Party. Following his defeat in the 1999 elections to Galla Arunakumari, he withdrew from active politics due to health reasons.
Born in 1952 to Nara Karjuranayudu and Ammannamma, Ramamurthi Naidu is survived by two children: actor Nara Rohith and Girish. Nara Rohith had recently gotten engaged to actress Shireesha.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who was in Delhi for a BJP campaign, is reported to have cut short his visit and rushed back to Hyderabad upon learning of his brother’s serious condition. Minister Lokesh also canceled his engagements and proceeded to Hyderabad, with actor Balakrishna similarly making his way to the hospital.
The funeral will be held in Ramamurthi Naidu’s native village, Naravari Palle, on Sunday. Further details on the funeral arrangements are awaited.
