In a significant development, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan is poised to welcome another young IAS officer to his team. Amrapali, who has previously served as the GHMC Commissioner and held a position in the Prime Minister’s Office, is reportedly being considered for key responsibilities within Pawan’s office.
Recently, the central government assigned seven IAS officers from Telangana to the Andhra Pradesh cadre. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued a directive for these officers to report to Andhra Pradesh by October 16. Among them, Amrapali and three other IAS officers sought intervention from the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), requesting to remain in Telangana. However, CAT upheld the DoPT’s orders, mandating that the officers comply and report to Andhra Pradesh as instructed. Subsequently, the officers approached the High Court, which reiterated the same directive, emphasizing that government officials are public servants required to serve wherever assigned.
In light of this situation, the Telangana government has relieved the IAS officers designated for Andhra Pradesh and appointed replacements to fill their positions.
Amrapali’s Appointment in Pawan’s Office
Since assuming his departmental responsibilities, Pawan Kalyan has been actively working towards public welfare, conducting reviews, and issuing directives to his team of officials. He has shown a keen interest in bringing on board enthusiastic and proactive officers. Recently, he successfully recruited an IAS officer from Kerala for his office. Now, it appears that Amrapali is also set to join his team.
During her tenure as GHMC Commissioner, Amrapali was noted for her diligent efforts to enhance the cleanliness and sanitation of Hyderabad. Her experience in the Prime Minister’s Office is expected to further bolster her capabilities in her forthcoming role within Pawan’s administration.
