The Andhra Pradesh government has made a key decision to consider re-implementing a scheme from the 2014-2019 TDP administration. The TDP government, after coming to power in 2014, had introduced the NTR Baby Kits distribution scheme, which is now set for a potential revival.

First launched in 2016, the scheme involved distributing kits to new mothers, containing items worth ₹800, such as powder, lotion, napkins, sleeping beds, diapers, blankets, mosquito nets, and baby soap, all packed in a zip bag. The YSRCP government had discontinued this scheme, but now the AP government is keen on bringing it back. Authorities are currently reviewing similar programs implemented in neighboring states like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Telangana, and Odisha, where the cost per kit ranges from Rs 1,200 to Rs 1,300.

In addition to this, under the ‘Aasara’ scheme, new mothers in the state currently receive Rs 5,000, a program that the AP government continues to support.

Meanwhile, the government has initiated village sabhas in areas where land re-surveys have been completed. District collectors have been instructed to complete this process by December 31, with arrangements being made to conduct two meetings per day, depending on the distance. The AP government has also directed revenue staff and surveyors to raise awareness about the re-survey process among farmers.
