Hyderabad: The controversy surrounding Minister Konda Surekha’s comments on actor Akkineni Nagarjuna’s family has been officially resolved, according to Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Chief Mahesh Kumar Goud. Speaking to reporters, Goud stated that Surekha retracted her remarks on the same day they were made, effectively closing the issue.
Goud criticized those continuing to voice criticisms, labeling their actions as inappropriate. He dismissed rumors regarding Konda Surekha’s potential removal from the cabinet, stating that there is no factual basis for such claims. He further mentioned that the party leadership has not sought any clarification from him regarding this matter.
The TPCC Chief emphasized that Surekha’s comments were not made lightly but were a reaction to the behavior of BRS leader and former minister K.T. Rama Rao. Goud expressed that such remarks should not have been necessary.
In addition, he highlighted that Nagarjuna has sought legal recourse in this matter and suggested that it would be prudent to await the court’s judgment. Goud accused the BRS of misusing social media platforms and asserted that the Congress party has never engaged in such practices. He also noted ongoing efforts to discredit their female ministers, particularly targeting influential leaders like Surekha and Seetakka, and announced that they are filing legal cases against those disseminating false information.
Cabinet Expansion Planned After Dussehra
Regarding future plans, Goud stated that the party initially aimed to allocate positions for the second phase of the corporation during the Dussehra festival. However, this could not be achieved due to the busy schedules of AICC leaders. He assured that these matters would be addressed following the festival.
