As the controversy surrounding the alleged adulteration of Tirupati laddu escalates, TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu has made strong remarks, pledging to restore the sanctity of Tirumala. In a media interaction today, Naidu stated that any wrongdoing would be met with strict punishment, ensuring the culprits are remembered for their misconduct. He expressed determination to bring back the former glory of Tirumala’s purity, highlighting that no offender would be spared.

Naidu voiced his frustration over previous incidents under the YSRCP government, such as the removal of Lord Rama’s idol head and the Antarvedi chariot fire, where no action was taken. He pointed out the frequent temple attacks during the YSRCP rule and lamented the lack of government response. Emphasizing his caution regarding matters related to Lord Venkateswara, Naidu expressed concern that recent events have hurt devotees’ sentiments but warned against staying silent in the face of such issues. He also criticized former Chief Minister Jagan for launching counterattacks instead of addressing the laddu adulteration scandal.

Questions Over Reverse Tendering in Laddu Preparation

Naidu questioned the YSRCP leadership’s decisions, particularly regarding the pricing of cow ghee used in the laddu preparation, raising doubts about how it could be priced at just Rs 320. He also raised concerns about the use of reverse tendering in the sacred laddu-making process. Naidu mentioned that during his tenure, he instructed the Tirumala EO to cleanse and restore the temple’s sanctity, leading to several reforms, including improving the laddu’s quality and blacklisting certain companies. He added that the ghee for the laddu was procured from Nandini Dairy to ensure its purity.

Reflecting on the iconic Tirumala laddu, Naidu noted that despite many attempts, no one has been able to replicate its quality. He shared that even efforts to create a similar laddu in Ayodhya had failed. Naidu recalled opposing YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s earlier statements about the “Seven Hills” and expressed disappointment that his plan to build a ₹250 crore Srivari temple in Amaravati was blocked. Concluding his remarks, Naidu announced plans to conduct inspections and consecration ceremonies at temples across the state.
