Amaravati: The previous government in Andhra Pradesh had mandated that volunteers purchase a daily newspaper and provided a Rs. 200 allowance for this purpose. However, the newly formed TDP Alliance government in AP has decided to abolish this newspaper allowance. A recent memo has been issued cancelling the purchase order for newspapers and instructing that no payments be made for them.

Allegations have surfaced that the previous YCP government introduced this allowance to boost circulation of the Sakshi newspaper. Currently, many volunteers in AP are facing difficult circumstances. Numerous volunteers have approached TDP leaders, expressing their desire to be reinstated after being compelled to resign before the elections. Furthermore, some volunteers filed complaints with the police against YSRCP leaders.
