Konda Surekha reacted sharply to her removal as minister, questioning how she could be dismissed without her explanation being heard. She asserted that a decision taken without considering her side was invalid, and clarified that no one had asked her to resign from her ministerial post, nor had she resigned.
Surekha said it was wrong to hold her responsible for remarks made by her daughter, Susmitha. “What is my connection to my daughter’s comments? How can I be held responsible for what she said?” she asked, adding that there was nothing wrong in her daughter aspiring to grow politically.
She noted that Susmitha’s ambition for a ticket from Parkal was not a new development, pointing out that her daughter had been seeking the ticket for ten years. Surekha also questioned whether Kadiyam Srihari had not similarly brought his own daughter into politics, asking what was wrong if Susmitha sought a ticket.
Surekha further argued that family members belonging to different political parties was nothing unusual, citing examples such as Aravind being in the BJP while Sanjay remained in Congress, and noting that even DS’s own family had members across two parties.
She strongly criticised the action taken against her, alleging that although she was disciplined on grounds of violating party discipline, her explanation was not properly considered. She said she had already given a full explanation to Kharge, yet was still made a scapegoat.
