Rebuilt With Pakistan’s Money: Jaish Headquarters Rises Again After Op Sindoor Strike

As is known, India had destroyed the Bahawalpur headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed, a terror outfit operating out of Pakistan, as part of Operation Sindoor last year. The terror organisation has now fully restored the building that was destroyed in India’s strikes. The centre is located in Pakistan’s Punjab province. Intelligence agencies have found that the group has rebuilt its destroyed headquarters, with reports indicating that the Pakistani government provided financial support for this reconstruction. The development has once again exposed Pakistan’s continued patronage of terrorism. Satellite images of the Jaish headquarters, along with photographs showing newly laid marble flooring, fresh paintwork, and newly constructed domes on the building, have gone viral on social media. It is well known that India’s strikes had left a large hole in the roof of this facility, with other structures within the compound also damaged.

In retaliation for the Pahalgam attack, the Indian Army carried out a precision bombing strike on the building on May 7 last year. The strike killed 10 members of Jaish chief Masood Azhar’s family, exposing the terror roots operating within Pakistan to the world. Despite this, Pakistan has shown no change in its conduct, instead providing assistance to rebuild the facility so that no trace of the earlier strike remains visible. Intelligence sources revealed that Pakistani government circles arranged around ₹25 crore (in Pakistani currency) for this purpose.

Reports suggest that restoring the central hall of the building alone, which was destroyed in the strike, cost ₹11 crore. As is known, terrorists killed 26 people in the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir last year. In retaliation, India launched Operation Sindoor to strike at terrorists operating within Pakistan. With the rebuilding of the structure destroyed in that strike, it appears the outfit is now preparing to resume its terror activities. This Jaish-e-Mohammed headquarters is used to train cadres and indoctrinate them with terror ideology. The facility spans a total of 18 acres. According to relevant sources, plots for major attacks — including the 2001 attack on the Indian Parliament, the 2016 attack on the Pathankot airbase, and the Pulwama suicide bombing — were all hatched at this very location. The centre is reportedly located just 100 kilometres from the international border, and activities such as recruiting and training new terror operatives continue to take place there. Even though Pakistan officially banned Jaish-e-Mohammed back in 2002, the group has continued to receive support and assistance of every kind.
