Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of medical student Priyanka, who succumbed after battling for her life for six days following a horrific road accident in Rajamahendravaram. Describing the incident as deeply distressing, the Chief Minister assured that the government would stand fully behind Priyanka’s family.

He directed senior police officials to take the strictest possible action against those responsible for her death and ensure they receive the harshest punishment permissible under the law. Noting that the accused have already been arrested and are currently in judicial custody, he issued clear instructions to expedite legal proceedings to ensure they are appropriately punished.

The tragic incident occurred on the 3rd of this month near Prasad Aditya Mall in Rajamahendravaram. The accused, who were intoxicated, first attempted to enter a cinema hall, and when security personnel stopped them citing lack of permission, they assaulted the staff.

When security personnel then attempted to apprehend them, the accused fled in their car and, in a shocking act of gross negligence, struck the scooty Priyanka was riding. Not stopping there, they rammed into her three times in succession, causing her severe head injuries.

Doctors subsequently declared her brain dead, and she was officially pronounced dead at 3:20 PM today. Priyanka’s death, after a six-day fight for survival, has plunged her family into deep grief, with her parents, breaking down in tears, demanding the harshest possible punishment for those responsible for taking their daughter’s life.

A native of Eklaspur village in Aiza mandal, Jogulamba Gadwal district, Priyanka had completed her MBBS and was pursuing her first year of postgraduate studies in Dermatology at GSL Medical College in Rajanagaram, East Godavari district. Her parents are settled in Hyderabad.
