Balochistan: Big Blow To Pakistan.. August 11 Declared Independence Day!

Balochistan has declared itself an independent nation, breaking away from Pakistan, and has officially announced that August 11 will be observed as Balochistan’s Independence Day. Rejecting Pakistan’s authority over the region, Baloch representatives have demanded that the international community immediately recognise Balochistan as a sovereign state. The announcement was made in a recent statement by Baloch leader Mir Yar Baloch and representatives of the Balochistan Republic.

The Baloch leadership has called upon local residents as well as Baloch communities across the world to hoist the flag of independent Balochistan on homes, business establishments, schools and other public spaces. According to the statement, the primary objective behind this call is to pass on the history of their struggle, along with the significance of August 11, to future generations. They made clear that August 11 will henceforth be observed every year as their national day.

Explaining the reasoning behind the date, Baloch representatives said that in 1947, as British rulers were withdrawing from the Indian subcontinent, Balochistan had declared its independence on August 11 — even before Pakistan came into existence. However, they alleged that in March 1948, Pakistan forcibly annexed Balochistan by sending in its army, and has continued to suppress the region ever since.

Baloch representatives expressed strong anger over Pakistan’s conduct, asserting that the 1947 partition of India had destabilised the whole of South Asia. They alleged that the Kashmir dispute, the 1971 war that led to the creation of Bangladesh, the nuclear tests at Chagai, and the roots of terrorism were all evidence of Pakistan’s destructive policies, and charged that Pakistan’s actions have been responsible for decades of bloodshed and economic crisis in the region.

The Balochistan Republic asserted that there is no alternative but to recognise Balochistan as an independent nation if peace and stability are to prevail in the world. It appealed to the United Nations and governments of various countries to honour the aspirations of nearly 60 million Baloch people and accept Balochistan as a sovereign state.
