The Telangana government has taken a key decision, appointing senior IAS officer Sanjay Jaju as the new Chief Secretary. The tenure of the current Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao is set to end this month, and against this backdrop, CM Revanth Reddy has selected Sanjay Jaju as the new CS. Jaju was recently relieved from central services.

Belonging to the 1992 IAS batch, Sanjay Jaju has extensive administrative experience. In the past, he served as Sub-Collector of Vijayawada and Collector of West Godavari district in undivided Andhra Pradesh, leaving a strong mark in both roles. He subsequently served as Additional Commissioner and Commissioner of GHMC, and also earned a good reputation as Commissioner of the Civil Supplies Corporation. Since 2014, he has been on deputation in central services, holding the position of Secretary in various key departments.

CM Revanth Reddy deliberated seriously over who to appoint as the new Chief Secretary. Along with Sanjay Jaju, the name of another senior officer, Jayesh Ranjan, was also strongly in the running. However, CM Revanth Reddy ultimately leaned in favor of Sanjay Jaju, believing he would be the right fit to more effectively and swiftly deliver government welfare schemes and governance to the public in the days ahead. With the central government’s green signal received, the government issued orders appointing Sanjay Jaju as the new Chief Secretary. He will remain in service until February 2029.
