Mumbai: Mumbai Indians star batter Rohit Sharma registered an unwanted record in the Indian Premier League after being dismissed for a duck during the crucial clash against the Rajasthan Royals. The dismissal marked Rohit’s 19th duck in IPL history, allowing him to equal the record for the most ducks in the tournament, previously held by Glenn Maxwell.

Rohit was dismissed by Rajasthan pacer Jofra Archer after attempting an aggressive drive but failing to judge the pace of the delivery. The ball edged to the wicketkeeper, forcing Rohit to return to the pavilion without opening his account after facing four deliveries. With this dismissal, the Mumbai Indians batter concluded his IPL season with 283 runs from nine matches, including two half-centuries.

Batting first, Rajasthan Royals posted a strong total of 205/8 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to a powerful late-order contribution from Jofra Archer and Ravindra Jadeja. Archer smashed 32 runs off just 15 balls, including three sixes and a boundary, while Jadeja remained unbeaten on 19 off 11 deliveries with three boundaries in the final overs. Their aggressive finish helped Rajasthan comfortably cross the 200-run mark.

In a must-win game to remain alive in the IPL playoffs race, Rajasthan’s top-order batters failed to make major contributions. However, the team recovered strongly by scoring 73 runs in the final five overs. Young opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi was dismissed for 4 runs, while Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 27 before falling to Will Jacks. Suryavanshi’s dismissal also drew attention after Will Jacks completed a spectacular boundary catch off the bowling of Deepak Chahar.
