A satirical digital movement called the “Cockroach Janata Party” (CJP) has taken social media by storm following controversial remarks allegedly made by Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant during a court hearing. The remarks, in which unemployed youth were reportedly compared to “cockroaches” and accused of turning into RTI activists to criticise institutions, triggered widespread debate and backlash online.

The comments struck a nerve among young people already frustrated with rising unemployment, repeated examination paper leaks, and growing economic challenges. Social media users reacted strongly, with many expressing anger over what they perceived as an insult to unemployed youth struggling to find opportunities in the current system.

Amid the outrage, 30-year-old public relations student and former political social media volunteer Abhijeet Dipke launched the “Cockroach Janata Party” overnight as a satirical response. Using artificial intelligence tools and Canva-based digital designs, he created a mock political movement that quickly gained traction across platforms. By Thursday, the party’s Instagram account had reportedly crossed 10.5 million followers, while related videos and memes continued to trend online.

Presenting itself as the voice of the “lazy and unemployed,” the CJP describes its ideology as “Secular, Socialist, Democratic, and Lazy.” The group has also launched a dedicated website with humorous membership criteria, stating that applicants must be unemployed, lazy, and active online round the clock criticising the system. The campaign’s sarcastic tone and relatable messaging have resonated widely with sections of the youth.

The satirical party has also released a five-point manifesto, including a ban on retired Chief Justices receiving Rajya Sabha seats, strict action against illegal vote deletions, cancellation of licences of media organisations linked to major corporate houses, 50 percent reservation for women in Parliament and the Cabinet, and a 20-year ban on elected representatives involved in political defections. With its sharp political satire and viral content, the “Cockroach Janata Party” has emerged as one of the most talked-about online trends in recent days.
