Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay has allocated portfolios to members of his newly formed cabinet, marking the first major administrative reshuffle after assuming office. The distribution of departments has drawn significant attention, particularly due to the balance between senior leaders, youth representation, and women ministers in key positions.
In a notable decision, Chief Minister Vijay has retained the crucial Home, Police, Defence, and Law & Order portfolios under his direct control. He will also personally oversee the Women and Child Welfare department, signalling his intent to maintain direct supervision over sensitive governance areas.
Senior leader K.A. Sengottaiyan has been entrusted with the Finance portfolio, one of the most important departments in the state administration. He will be responsible for Finance, Pensions, and Pension Allowances, leveraging his long-standing experience in Tamil Nadu politics to manage the state’s fiscal affairs.
The Industries and Investment Promotion portfolio has been allotted to the youngest woman minister in the cabinet, Selvi S. Keerthana. Her appointment to a key economic department has become a major talking point in political circles, with observers highlighting the government’s focus on youth and women empowerment in decision-making roles.
