Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has responded to the POCSO case registered against Bandi Sanjay’s son, Bandi Bhagirath, and reviewed the investigation with the Director General of Police (DGP) and other senior officials. The Chief Minister made key remarks on the progress of the case and reiterated that the investigation is being carried out strictly as per legal procedures.
He stated that an FIR was registered on May 8 at Pet Basheerabad Police Station based on a complaint filed by the victim’s mother. Revanth Reddy said a senior woman police officer has been appointed as the investigating officer and directed officials to record the victim’s statement and ensure that necessary legal action is taken without delay.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the police themselves registered the case after receiving the complaint and stressed that no individual is above the law. He asserted that the government has consistently taken action in sensitive cases in the past and will continue to ensure that legal processes are followed without exception.
Addressing political criticism over the investigation, Revanth Reddy said that police inquiries are based on evidence and not on public statements or political remarks. He added that if anyone possesses credible evidence, it should be submitted to the police authorities, and clarified that external opinions will not influence the investigation process.
He further noted that the FIR was registered shortly before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Hyderabad, during which large-scale security arrangements involving over 10,000 police personnel were in place. The Chief Minister said that due to these extensive duties, investigations follow due process and cannot be expedited based on political demands. He also urged responsible commentary on sensitive cases involving minors and said the police will continue the probe independently and take action based on evidence.
