Tamil Nadu politics has entered a highly volatile phase following the Assembly election results, with actor Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) making intensified efforts to form the government. The post-poll scenario has been marked by uncertainty, as discussions around majority support and constitutional procedures continue to dominate the political discourse in the state.
According to political developments, TVK leader Vijay has reportedly made three separate attempts to meet Governor Rajendra Arlekar seeking approval to form the government. However, each request is said to have been turned down on the grounds that the party has not submitted sufficient written proof of majority support in the Assembly, leading to repeated delays in the process.
In a recent development, Vijay once again attempted to meet the Governor at the Raj Bhavan but was reportedly denied an appointment. Despite visiting the premises, he was unable to secure a meeting and returned without any formal engagement, further intensifying the political uncertainty surrounding government formation.
The situation escalated after Governor Rajendra Arlekar proceeded on a scheduled visit to Kerala, prompting political speculation over the timing of his departure amid ongoing developments in Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, Left party leaders, including CPI(M) representatives, reportedly arrived at the Raj Bhavan in support of TVK but were allegedly stopped at the entrance and not allowed inside, further adding to the controversy.
Left parties have strongly criticised the Governor’s conduct, alleging deviation from constitutional norms and claiming that democratic processes are being bypassed. They have also accused the Centre of influencing the Governor’s actions, while asserting that the Assembly remains the appropriate forum for proving majority. With tensions escalating, the political situation in Tamil Nadu remains fluid and closely watched.
