US First Lady Melania Trump’s absence from public appearances over the past several weeks, including staying away from major events, has given rise to numerous speculations. She was last seen on July 19, alongside her husband, President Donald Trump, at the FIFA World Cup final held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Since then, she has not attended major events such as the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on July 24 and Senator Lindsey Graham’s funeral on July 28.
Melania has stepped out publicly for only 38 days this year and has taken part in just 34 events so far. Compared to Trump’s first term, she has participated in far fewer events this time around. However, her senior advisor stated that for the First Lady, doing the work and achieving results matters more than public appearances. Meanwhile, in place of Melania, Trump’s 35-year-old aide Natalie Harp has been appearing more frequently during his trips. Natalie was also among the small staff accompanying Trump on the recent military flight to Turkey.
Responding to reports about Melania’s disappearance from the public eye, her team offered clarification. They stated that she has been busy with an important effort to reunite families separated by the Russia-Ukraine war. Melania herself said that nothing is more important than reuniting a mother with her child after a long separation, and that she and her representatives have been focused on reuniting those separated by the Ukraine-Russia war with their families. Her team revealed that since Melania wrote a peace letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, 34 children have so far been safely reunited with their families.
