Following a tragic boat accident at Bargi Reservoir in Madhya Pradesh, the Telangana government has taken precautionary measures to strengthen safety standards. The Telangana Tourism Development Corporation (TGTDC) has decided to implement strict safety protocols across all boating centres in the state, prioritising tourist safety. Orders have been issued in this regard.

With increasing tourist footfall in Telangana, the government has stressed the need for strict adherence to safety norms at boating facilities. It has warned that any negligence will make unit managers and in-charges fully responsible for lapses. Officials have also been instructed to be physically present at boating units during weekends, holidays, and peak rush hours.

The government has made it clear that violations such as overloading boats beyond capacity and failing to provide life jackets to passengers will not be tolerated. It has warned that strict disciplinary action, including suspension, will be taken against those violating the rules. Boating services must be immediately suspended during adverse weather conditions, according to the directives.

Each boating unit has been instructed to maintain first aid kits, rescue equipment, and an emergency response plan. Authorities stated that ensuring passenger safety is the top priority and the new guidelines are aimed at preventing any untoward incidents in the future.
