BRS chief and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) participated in a public felicitation meeting held in Jagtial, where he formally welcomed senior leader and former minister Jeevan Reddy into the party. Speaking on the occasion, KCR made several strong political remarks, stating that if the BRS returns to power, it would abolish HYDRA. He accused the Congress government of corruption and misrule, alleging widespread exploitation and chaos under its administration.
Praising Jeevan Reddy, KCR said his decision to join the party reflected courage and highlighted a 45-year friendship between them, noting his strong public support across Jagtial. He also recalled sanctioning ₹80 crore for a bridge at Bornapally at Jeevan Reddy’s request and announced that he would be appointed as BRS general secretary, expressing confidence that the party would return to power with 100% certainty in the next elections.
KCR further launched a sharp attack on Congress, recalling the difficult conditions in Telangana before state formation, including denial of recognition to the word “Telangana” in the Assembly, resource exploitation, lack of electricity and irrigation, and police firing incidents like Bashirbagh, which, he said, pushed him into the Telangana movement. He cited major initiatives like Mission Bhagiratha, irrigation tank restoration, and welfare schemes implemented during BRS rule, claiming significant development achievements.
Criticising the present government, he alleged failure in welfare delivery, farmer support, and infrastructure, questioning delays in schemes like Rythu Bharosa and fee reimbursement. He also accused the government of using HYDRA to demolish poor people’s homes and challenged its urban redevelopment plans, asserting that BRS would remove HYDRA if it comes back to power. Concluding his speech, KCR said the state had fallen into crisis under Congress rule and vowed to restart a “Telangana reconstruction mission” after returning to power.
