Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with United States President Donald Trump, reportedly lasting around 40 minutes. The discussion comes in the backdrop of the failed U.S.–Iran peace talks held in Islamabad recently, which have further intensified tensions in West Asia.
The developments have raised global concerns as the situation between the United States and Iran appears to be heading toward a critical phase. Reports indicate that the U.S. has imposed restrictions on key maritime routes, a move that could significantly impact global trade and energy supplies, including for India.
During the conversation, Prime Minister Modi is understood to have raised concerns over the escalating tensions and stressed the importance of preventing further deterioration of the situation. Both leaders reportedly discussed possible diplomatic approaches and the future course of action if fresh negotiations between the U.S. and Iran take place.
Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s consistent stand in favour of peace and stability in West Asia. He conveyed that India supports all efforts aimed at de-escalation and is ready to extend full backing for diplomatic initiatives intended to prevent further conflict in the region.
