Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has launched a sharp attack on the BJP, stating that since its formation in 1980, the party has appointed 15 presidents but has never elevated a woman to the post. He alleged that this reflects the BJP’s attitude towards women and questioned its commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment.

He further said that the Congress party, under leaders such as Indira Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, has a long history of women’s leadership and empowerment. Revanth Reddy challenged BJP leader Bandi Sanjay to comment on the issue only after the party appoints a woman as its national president, and alleged that his remarks were against SC, ST, and women communities in southern states.

Turning to the issue of delimitation, the Chief Minister warned that if parliamentary seat redistribution is carried out strictly based on population, it could politically disadvantage leaders from certain regions. He said he would write to southern states as well as smaller states such as Delhi and Punjab, stressing that numerical strength, not percentages, plays a crucial role in parliamentary politics.

Revanth Reddy also cautioned against penalizing well-performing states in the process of seat reorganization. Reiterating Congress’s role in nation-building, he said the party was responsible for India’s independence, the Constitution, and reservation policies, adding that it continues to carry the responsibility of safeguarding the country’s democratic and federal structure.
