Tensions in West Asia continue to escalate, with the conflict showing no signs of de-escalation. The situation remains volatile as hostilities involving Iran intensify. Amid this backdrop, Donald Trump is reportedly considering a major military push aimed at bringing the ongoing conflict to a decisive stage.
According to a report by Reuters, citing US officials, Washington is exploring the deployment of thousands of troops to the region. Discussions have also been held on deploying Air Force and Navy assets to secure oil tanker movements through the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global energy supplies.
Officials indicated that the plan could involve positioning US forces along Iran’s coastline and potentially near Kharg Island, a crucial hub for Iranian oil exports. However, sources have cautioned that such an operation would carry significant risks. While preliminary discussions have taken place, no final decision has yet been announced.
Meanwhile, the Pentagon has not issued an official statement regarding these deliberations. Earlier, on February 28, the US and Israel carried out joint strikes on Iran. According to US Central Command, more than 7,800 strikes have been conducted so far, leading to the destruction of around 120 Iranian vessels. The conflict has resulted in the deaths of 13 US personnel, with over 200 others reported injured.
