A significant political development has taken place in Jagtial district, where senior leader and former minister T. Jeevan Reddy is reportedly preparing to resign from the Indian National Congress. He is said to have informed his supporters about his decision and is likely to join the Bharat Rashtra Samithi on March 25.
Jeevan Reddy has been associated with the Congress for nearly four decades. However, differences reportedly emerged between him and Sanjay Kumar, who won the Assembly elections two years ago. Reddy had strongly opposed Sanjay Kumar’s entry into the Congress after he was elected as an MLA from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi.
Since then, Jeevan Reddy has been expressing dissatisfaction with the party leadership. Sources say he believes that despite his long-standing service of nearly 40 years in the Congress, he has not been given due importance within the party. His supporters have also expressed strong dissatisfaction over the developments.
In this backdrop, Jeevan Reddy is expected to step down from the Congress and join the Bharat Rashtra Samithi. According to sources, a large public meeting is likely to be held in Jagtial, where he is expected to formally join the BRS in the presence of party leaders.
