Amid the ongoing Iran–Israel conflict, Iran has issued a strong warning over rumours circulating on social media about the alleged death of Benjamin Netanyahu. The country’s military wing, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), stated that if the Israeli Prime Minister is still alive, Iran would “hunt him down and eliminate him.” The remarks have become a major talking point as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate.
Speculation over Netanyahu’s death began spreading online after he was not seen in public for several days. Some social media posts and certain Iranian media outlets claimed that a missile strike launched by Iran had hit Netanyahu’s office or residence in Israel, allegedly leading to his death. The rumours gained further traction when a video posted on Netanyahu’s official account on X showed what some users described as unusual finger movements, prompting claims that the clip might have been created using artificial intelligence.
Amid these rumours, the IRGC released a statement on Sunday describing Netanyahu as a “killer of innocent children” and warning that he would not be spared if he was still alive. The statement said Iran would pursue him with full force and ensure his elimination. Iranian officials also mocked Israel’s leadership, claiming the country was facing a severe crisis and that its leaders were hiding out of fear.
However, Netanyahu’s office dismissed the reports as baseless and false propaganda. Officials clarified that the Prime Minister is safe and continuing to carry out his duties. The office also stated that such rumours were being spread by hostile countries as part of a misinformation campaign and attempted to counter the claims by releasing images of Netanyahu attending a recent security meeting.
