Iran Warns US After Kharg Island Strikes

The United States recently carried out strikes on Kharg Island in an attempt to weaken the economy of Iran. Donald Trump said the attacks destroyed military installations on the island. Iran has now confirmed that the strikes took place and strongly condemned the action, issuing a sharp warning to Washington over targeting its territory.

Iran stated that any attack on its oil infrastructure would be taken very seriously. It warned that if such actions continue, oil facilities connected to American companies could become targets. Iranian officials said those installations could be reduced to “ashes,” signaling the possibility of retaliation if its energy infrastructure is attacked again.

Earlier, Trump said the strikes on Kharg Island were carried out under his direct orders but clarified that US forces did not target the island’s oil infrastructure. However, he warned that if Iran attempts to block vessels passing through the strategic Strait of Hormuz, the United States may consider targeting Iran’s oil facilities as well. Iran’s latest response comes amid rising tensions following these warnings.

Kharg Island, located in the Persian Gulf about 25 to 30 kilometers off Iran’s coast, plays a crucial role in the country’s economy. Nearly 90 percent of Iran’s oil exports pass through the island, making it a vital energy hub. Foreign investment in its oil infrastructure has grown steadily since 1986. Since the conflict began, Iran is estimated to have exported around 13.7 million barrels of oil from the island.
