India, Israel Sign Key Deals in AI, Defence and Trade

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on an official visit to Israel, during which several key agreements were signed to strengthen bilateral ties. Major deals were concluded in sectors including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and agriculture. Talks on a proposed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) aimed at boosting trade between the two nations have reportedly reached the final stage. As part of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, both sides also agreed on the transfer of missile and drone technology.

The two countries signed agreements to undertake joint research in AI and quantum computing. An understanding was reached to enable the use of India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services in Israel. Additionally, a special memorandum of understanding was concluded to enhance cooperation in tackling cyberattacks and improving intelligence and information sharing. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to jointly combat terrorism.

The partnership framework also includes the establishment of 100 Centres of Excellence across key sectors, along with several other strategic initiatives designed to deepen cooperation. During the visit, Prime Minister Modi addressed the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset, highlighting the growing strategic and technological collaboration between the two countries.

Concluding the visit, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the trip as more than just a series of agreements, calling it a meeting of two great minds and two great hearts, underscoring the deepening partnership between India and Israel.
