The Andhra Pradesh government has received a major relief from the Supreme Court in the Tirumala Laddu “prasadam quality” controversy. The bench, led by the Chief Justice of India, issued key directions while hearing a petition filed by prominent political leader Subramanian Swamy. The court clarified that the single-member committee previously appointed to investigate the matter could continue its inquiry without disruption.

During the hearing, the bench highlighted several important points, noting that uncovering the facts in this case is closely tied to the faith and trust of devotees, and therefore the investigation process should not be halted. The judges emphasized that the government-appointed inquiry committee is fully capable of conducting the investigation independently, and there was no need for any stay on its work.

The ruling is expected to expedite the ongoing probe into the laddu quality issue. The single-member committee tasked with identifying irregularities in butter procurement and holding responsible parties accountable has now received full legal backing from the Supreme Court.

Considering the sentiments of devotees, the Andhra Pradesh government is keen to ensure that the committee’s report is prepared and submitted at the earliest. The judgment is seen as a significant step toward transparency and accountability in the management of Tirumala Laddu prasadam.
