The BRS, which has already won a majority in several municipalities of Sangareddy district, is now moving to secure key chairperson positions. The party had previously won in Gaddapotharam and Gummadidala municipalities and is targeting the remaining four—Jinnaram, Isnapur, Kohir, and Zaheerabad.
Recently, the BRS secured its third municipality in the district after an independent candidate in Indresham municipality joined the party. With 16 wards in Indresham, the independent’s entry enabled BRS to win 10 seats, securing the chairperson post. With this victory, the party now controls three municipalities in the district, while suspense continues over the outcomes in the remaining four.
In Isnapur municipality, Patancheru MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy and Medak MP Raghunandan Rao cast ex-officio votes. Out of 26 wards, BRS won 12, Congress 10, and independents 4. Following the alignment of independent councillors—one joining BRS and three joining Congress—both parties now hold 13 seats each.
BRS plans to rely on the ex-officio votes to claim Isnapur, but reports indicate that a BRS-elected councillor has shifted contact to Congress. This makes MP Raghunandan Rao’s ex-officio vote pivotal, and both parties are awaiting his decision. The final outcome will determine which party gains control of the municipality.
