A tragic incident occurred in Switzerland during New Year celebrations when a powerful explosion followed by a fire broke out at a resort bar, killing at least 10 people and leaving more than 10 others seriously injured, according to local authorities. The incident unfolded as New Year festivities were being marked across the world, casting a shadow over celebrations in Switzerland.
The accident took place at around 1.30 am on Thursday at the “Le Constellation” Bar and Lounge in Crans-Montana, a popular tourist destination in the Valais canton of southwestern Switzerland. At the time of the explosion, more than 100 people, including tourists and local residents, were inside the venue celebrating the New Year. A sudden loud blast was followed by a fire, with thick smoke quickly filling the building. As flames spread rapidly, panic ensued and people struggled to escape. Police said 10 people died at the spot.
