Ayodhya: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to hoist the flag atop the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, today, marking a significant milestone in the temple’s construction. The ceremony will feature a 10-foot-high, 20-foot-long triangular flag adorned with depictions of the Sun, the sacred Bodhi tree, and the Om symbol, representing divine energy, righteousness, and knowledge associated with Lord Ram. The event signifies the completion of the main temple construction and has transformed Ayodhya into a festive hub, with streets cleaned, new signboards installed, extensive sanitation measures carried out, and around 100 tons of flowers decorating the temple complex and city.
The flag-hoisting ceremony will be conducted under the guidance of Kashi scholar Ganeshwar Shastri, with 108 Acharyas from Ayodhya, Kashi, and southern India performing the rituals. Alongside the main temple, subsidiary shrines dedicated to Lord Balarama, Lord Mahadev, Lord Ganesha, Lord Hanuman, Surya Dev, Maa Bhagavati, Maa Annapurna, and Shesh Avatar have also been elaborately adorned. The temple has been illuminated with electric lights, adding to the grandeur of the celebrations.
PM Modi, who had personally performed the Prana Pratishtha of Ram Lalla in January 2024, will lead today’s historic flag-hoisting event. The Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust estimates that around 6,000 guests, including saints, dignitaries, and trust members, will attend. Extensive security measures have been implemented for the Prime Minister’s visit, including step-by-step CCTV monitoring and continuous surveillance by local intelligence units to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the ceremony.
