Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer has reportedly recovered from a major injury scare sustained during the third ODI against Australia. According to medical sources, Iyer has been moved out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and is said to be in stable condition. While doctors confirmed there is no longer a major threat to his life, they indicated that his discharge may take some more time.
The injury occurred when Iyer attempted a catch during the match and suffered internal bleeding. He was immediately taken off the field and admitted to a hospital in Sydney, where his condition deteriorated initially. The BCCI later issued a statement confirming that Iyer’s health is being closely monitored by doctors and that he is recovering well. Cricket website Cricbuzz also reported that the middle-order batsman has been shifted out of the ICU, bringing relief to fans and teammates.

Medical reports suggest that Iyer may require nearly two months to achieve full recovery. As a result, he is unlikely to participate in the upcoming India–South Africa ODI series in late November and December. However, he is expected to return to action in January 2026 for the India–New Zealand series, once he completes his rehabilitation.
