The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced a major update for Aadhaar cardholders, effective from November 1, 2025. Under the new system, citizens across the country will be able to make Aadhaar-related updates from their homes, without the need to visit enrollment centers. This includes corrections or changes to key personal details such as name, address, date of birth, and mobile number. The UIDAI stated that the initiative aims to simplify the process, save time, and ensure faster and safer Aadhaar services for the public.
As part of the new rules, cardholders will be required to use government-linked identification documents such as a PAN card, passport, driving license, ration card, or birth certificate for verification. The fee for demographic updates—like name or address—has been set at ₹75, while biometric updates including fingerprints, iris scans, and photographs will cost ₹125. Document updates at Aadhaar centers will be charged ₹75, but online document updates will remain free until June 14. Aadhaar print requests will cost ₹40.
The government has also made it mandatory to link Aadhaar with PAN by December 31, 2025. From January 1, 2026, PAN cards not linked with Aadhaar will become invalid. Additionally, the Know Your Customer (KYC) process has been made simpler—banks and financial institutions can now verify users via OTP, video KYC, or face-to-face meetings. UIDAI officials said these changes are aimed at improving convenience, security, and transparency in Aadhaar-related services.
