U.S. President Donald Trump has cautioned that Israel could lose all American support if it proceeds with annexation of the West Bank, following the introduction of two controversial bills in the Knesset. Speaking to Times Magazine, Trump said that annexation would violate commitments made to Arab nations and undermine the growing regional support that the U.S. and Israel currently enjoy. He expressed confidence that Israel would refrain from taking such a step, noting that Arab countries are providing significant backing to ongoing diplomatic efforts.
Trump has threatened to withdraw ‘all US support’ for Israel if it annexes the West Bank.
The Times of Israel reports that, as a result of Trump’s threat, it is “highly unlikely” that a Knesset bill which formalizes annexation will become law.

Trump also commented on Israel-Arab relations, expressing optimism that Saudi Arabia may join the Abraham Accords by the end of the year. He highlighted that previous regional challenges, including the Israel-Gaza conflict and Iran’s nuclear program, no longer pose major obstacles to cooperation, signaling a positive shift in Middle East diplomacy.
Vice President Mike Pence also criticized the proposed bills, calling them “personally somewhat humiliating” and politically unwise. He reiterated that the Trump administration opposes full annexation of West Bank territories, describing the legislation — one proposing full integration of settlements and the other extending sovereignty over Ma’ale Adumim — as an imprudent political stunt. Although both bills passed the Knesset by narrow margins, they have raised concerns about the future of U.S.-Israel relations and regional stability.
