Congress leader Bonthu Rammohan has strongly refuted social media reports suggesting that he would contest the upcoming Jubilee Hills bypoll as a BJP candidate. Rammohan clarified that he is not part of the BJP race and has no involvement in any internal party discussions regarding nominations. He reiterated his commitment to the Congress party, stating that he is satisfied with his position and will continue his political career within the party.

Earlier reports claimed that Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind proposed Rammohan’s name to the BJP leadership, citing his past association with the ABVP and his political familiarity. The BJP had already constituted a three-member committee—including former MP Potuganti Ramulu, former MLA Dharmarao, and senior leader Komal Anjaneyulu—to finalize the Jubilee Hills candidate. The committee consulted extensively with local party leaders and shortlisted six names from a total of 12, submitting their recommendations to the state president. Leading contenders reportedly include Akula Lalitha, Keerthi Reddy, and former candidate Deepak Reddy, with the final decision expected in a party election committee meeting tomorrow.

Bonthu Rammohan began his political journey as a student leader with ABVP and later joined TRS during the Telangana movement, earning recognition for his active participation. Following the formation of Telangana, he served as GHMC Mayor and sought a ticket to contest as MLA from Uppal. However, dissatisfaction with TRS’s decision not to grant him the ticket led him to leave the party and join Congress prior to the last parliamentary elections.

With the Jubilee Hills bypoll approaching, Rammohan reportedly approached the Congress high command requesting a ticket, but local leaders favored Naveen Yadav. Anticipating the official candidate announcement, he declared a day in advance that he would not contest. Reports also suggest that Rammohan may consider joining the BJP if offered an opportunity, though he clarified that his name was proposed to the BJP leadership solely because Dharmapuri Arvind had contacted him, not due to any personal initiative or interest on his part.
